Laissez-faire is a type of economic system in which transactions between private groups of people are free from any form of economic interventionism. As a system of thought, laissez-faire rests on the following axioms: "the individual is the basic unit in society, i.e., the standard of measurement in social calculus; the individual has a natural right to freedom; and the physical order of nature is a harmonious and self-regulating system." The original phrase was laissez faire, laissez passer, with the second part meaning "let (things) pass". It is generally attributed to Vincent de Gournay.

লেসে-ফেয়ার বা স্বেচ্ছায় বাণিজ্য এমন একটি অর্থনৈতিক ব্যবস্থা বা পরিবেশ যেখানে ব্যক্তি মানুষ বা ব্যক্তি মালিকানাধীন ব্যবসায় প্রতিষ্ঠানের মধ্যে কোনরূপ সরকারি হস্তক্ষেপ ব্যতিরেকে ব্যবসায়-বাণিজ্য ও বিনিময় চলে৤ রাষ্ট্রের এহেন দৃষ্টিভঙ্গীকে অবাধনীতি বলা হয়। এটি ফরাসী "লেসে ফেয়ার, লেসে আলের, লেসে পাসে" প্রবচনটির সংক্ষিপ্ত রূপ যার অর্থ "করতে দাও, যেতে দাও, পাশ কাটাতে দাও"। এরকম পরিবেশে কোন ব্যবসায়-বাণিজ্যের ওপর সরকার আরোপিত শুল্ক-কর, ভর্তুকি, কোটা ইত্যাদি কোনরূপ সরকারি প্রত্যক্ষ বা পরোক্ষ হস্তক্ষেপ থাকবে না৤ অষ্টাদশ শতাব্দীতে ফ্রান্সে ফিযিওক্র্যাটরা ব্যবসায়-বাণিজ্যের ওপর সরকারি নিয়ন্ত্রণ হ্রাসের দাবীতে এই লেসে-ফেয়ার তত্ত্বের প্রচার করে৤
